This is my original draft for the opening animatic for Slugworks Interactive's game Green Thing From the Planet Jupiter. Things were slightly changed in production to make it easier on our animator given the time we had, but I believe the original essence still shines through. Not only did I have the pleasure of writing the opening that sets the scene for the game, I also partially voiced Cannoli the cat, worked on models and level design for the game (seen in my Game Portfolio). The animatic was made possible through the beautiful 2D talents of Max Lombarczki and Chris Spiteri, compositing and sound design by Ben Cohen, and featuring vocal talents of Chris and myself as Cannoli and Ben as Green Thing.

Relaxing and beautiful, space flows by. Interrupting the peace, a spaceship whizzes across the screen, smoke trailing behind it.

Inside, Green Thing is banging inside the ship with a wrench yelling in an unintelligible alien language.

Cut to a reverse shot, showing the back of the smoking spaceship and its fast-growing trajectory: a residential backyard.

The ship crashes and Green Thing is ejected five feet away, still yelling in its alien language. He gets up, looks at the ship and shrugs, then looks to the house and runs towards it.

Inside, Cannoli has been watching the ship and its inhabitants and jumps back in surprise as he sees Green Thing running towards his house.

Cannoli’s owner, shown from shoulders down, has also been watching, and gestures with her arm for Cannoli to go after Green Thing. Cannoli looks to the side and back to his owner, then pulls a sign from behind his back Wile E. Coyote style that says “Me? After It?” on it.

Back to Cannoli’s owner, who stomps their foot angrily and points again twice. Cannoli jumps back slightly in shock.
