FADE IN:

INT. ASPEN’S MIND

After touching the meteor, ASPEN passed out. He awakes in his head, face to face with a molten-humanoid figure that is glowing purple like the meteor he just touched. He is scared, in pain, and unable to speak. He isn’t sure how he knows he is in his head but knows there is no place like this in Hollanguard.

ABRAXAS

Hello… Aspen, is it? Considering you seem down for the moment, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about what’s going to happen to you now that we’ve made our agreement. I’m sure you’re wondering who I am, and for that matter, what I am.

The being gestures to itself and laughs a bit.

ABRAXAS (CONT.)

And of course, what I’m doing here and probably multiple other questions. Seeing as you’ve got nothing but time at the moment, let’s begin.

I am Abraxasenousia, but you may call me Abraxas for short. I doubt you’d be able to pronounce my full name. I’m what was called a Starius being; a race of beings like myself living in the farthest reaches of your galaxy. My race was attacked by an unknown force, killing most of us. The rest, like myself, were forced into space rock, doomed to circle in the atmosphere until a living host allowed us into their body. Congratulations, you’ve given me a second shot at life, Aspen!

Abraxas flourishes while saying the last line. Aspen doesn’t look nearly as happy as Abraxas does. They clear their throat.

ABRAXAS

Well, in any event, this means that I’m what you would refer to as a symbiote in your body now. To be honest, I do feel a bit badly for living off you for free. But don’t worry, I can make this worth your while.

Abraxas begins to pace, thinking of what they can do for Aspen.

ABRAXAS

Ah! I’ve got it! You’re a knight, right? That’s what I can see in your head here. I can give you more strength to fight your enemies! I can improve your agility too, that’ll help when it comes to dodging enemy blows. Oh, and your hearing! I can improve that too. You’ll be able to hear a flying arrow coming at you long before it would hit you, giving you the opportunity to move.

Aspen seems intrigued; that could really help his skills in the army.

ABRAXAS

Of course, there is a certain… catch to all this. For one hour once every week, you have to let me change your human form to look like mine right now.

Aspen’s eyes go wide. He starts to panic more. Abraxas starts frantically waving their arm-like appendages, trying to calm Aspen down.

ABRAXAS

Even if I didn’t give you those powers, you’d still have to do it! It’s part of the agreement you agreed to when you touched the meteor! I have to be present in your world for at least one hour every week to keep myself alive. Feeding off just your energy alone would leave you pretty much useless as a person, and if I die inside you…

(Abraxas shutters)

I wouldn’t want to put you through that. Let’s just say, you’ll wish you were dead instead of what happens.

Now I know it’s a bit unfair that all this has to happen just because you touched a rock, but we can really benefit from each other! Looking through your head I can tell you don’t have many friends. This way, you’ll never be alone! What do you say? Partners?

Aspen takes a second. Since he still can’t talk, he nods his head yes. Like he has much of a choice.

ABRAXAS

Excellent! Now, let’s get you out of this haze and back to the real world. We can start working on your new abilities right away.

Abraxas snaps its fingers, and Aspen’s world goes white.

FADE OUT.
